We believe that film is more than just an opportunity to communicate with people, it is an chance commune with others. Recently, we had the opportunity to commune with folks who came out to our first screening of Invention. Dan and I found it both exhilarating and humbling to share the fruits of our team’s labor with the crowd. We reveled in the experience of the night and soaked in all the feedback about our film. We loved people’s various responses. We heard everything from, “This film touched me to the core,” to “I wanted it to end differently.” We heard “All I could think about was the last time I heard my father’s voice,” and “I’ve got to keep thinking about scene X.” We’re honored that these folks wrestled with the film and worked to weave their own stories in with it. In this way, they’ve accepted the invitation to commune over our art. We’re looking forward to the opportunity to commune with more people over Invention. To do this, we’ve begun the film festival submission process. We’re excited and honored that the film will premiere for the first time publicly at the Omaha Film Festival (Friday, March 8th). In addition to film festivals, we have begun to reach out to grief organizations to help us create reflection material to accompany the film. Our hope is that this film will ultimately be a resource for grieving people.
We were truly honored that the following artists participated in our “Friends and Family Screening” event. The evening featured: Wine by Ryan Roark of Roark Wine Co; Small Bites by Mary Lee Catering, Art by Brandon J. Richard, and Music by Aaron Burch. The photos below are all taken by the talented, Janna Gould We held the screening at Northland Village Foundation (a great venue for events). We highly recommend connecting with all of these artists over their craft.
